CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 16, 2013 – The newly expanded and remodeled 117,000-square-foot Belk fashion store at Cypress Bay Plaza in Morehead City, N.C. is celebrating its grand re-opening today with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, gift card give-aways and other special events and promotions scheduled today and throughout the month.

Belk has relocated its home and kids departments into a 17,000-square-foot shop space located adjacent to the main Belk store (formerly occupied by Gold’s Gym). The addition increases the store’s size to 117,000 square feet, which has enabled Belk to expand its offerings of top fashion brands and merchandise assortments throughout the store.

The expansion and remodeling, representing a $4.4 million investment by Belk, features an updated decor including new display fixtures, porcelain tile aisles, carpeting and paint, and refurbished fitting rooms and restrooms.

The expansion and remodeling includes improvements designed to enhance customer convenience and satisfaction for Belk customers. For example, the store’s cosmetics, ladies shoes and accessories departments have each been expanded by more than 30 percent and feature the latest display cases and merchandising fixtures, including new open-sell concepts for cosmetics and fashion jewelry.

In addition, the store has nearly doubled the size of the ladies contemporary and designer sportswear department and has expanded swimwear, better sportswear, special sizes and intimate apparel. The men’s department has been enlarged by nearly 22 percent and the big and tall area is nearly twice its previous size. Other departments receiving more space include newborn and infants, girls, and the home store, which has added new assortments of hard home merchandise including kitchen electrics, luggage and more.

New premium brands in women’s sportswear include Eileen Fisher, Jones New York Signature, and Lauren Polo Ralph Lauren. Ladies shoe brands now available include Dolce Vita, PG Lite/Peppergate, and G by Guess/Marc Fisher, and new premium shoe brands for men include Ralph Lauren and MADE Cam Newton. The women’s accessories department premiers shops featuring Coach and Kors by Michael Kors, and new lines of modern fashion jewelry by BCBGeneration, and Belk Designer Showcase winners Miriam Oherlein, Aakofii and Kathleen Murphy.

Styles by Polo Ralph Lauren have been added for boys, and Under Armour for girls.

Two new exclusive private brands that premiered at Belk this spring – CYNTHIA Cynthia Rowley better sportswear, handbags, jewelry and shoes for ladies, and MADE Cam Newton shoes, sport coats, blazers, suits and better sportswear for men, will also be featured at the expanded store.

Both men and women can also find great premium denim and tops by Chip & Pepper California, another Belk exclusive. Examples of other new premium and top name brands offered at Belk of Cypress Bay Plaza include BCBGeneration, Lily Bloom, America Collection, Nautica, Biltmore For Your Home, Keurig and many more.

The store’s “Belk and Co. Fine Jewelers” shop has also been updated and offers a wider selection of watches and fine jewelry, including diamonds, semi-precious stones, gold and much more.
