Southern Designer Showcase Semi-Finalists Announced

Winning Designs to Be Sold at Belk & on Beginning Spring 2013 and Featured in Belk’s 125th Anniversary Advertising Campaign

Charlotte, N.C., July 17, 2012 – After scouring the nation for the most talented southern designers, Belk has selected 36 semi-finalists out of hundreds of designer applicants to compete for the opportunity to have their collections sold in select Belk stores and on The 36 semi-finalists listed below will travel to Belk headquarters in Charlotte, N.C. on July 20 to present their collections to a panel of Belk judges in hopes of becoming Belk vendor partners.

“The Southern Designer Showcase competition is one of many ways Belk will feature products created by southern designers,” said Arlene Goldstein, vice president of trend merchandising and fashion direction for Belk. “Our merchant teams are continuously searching the southeast through our contacts with universities, local merchandise market centers, and regional fashion events for fresh new talent.”

From this group of brilliant southern designers presenting at this year’s Designer Showcase, finalists will be chosen and invited to return to Belk headquarters on Aug. 2 for the final round of competition. In addition to being sold in Belk stores and on, winning designer collections will also be featured in Belk’s 125th Anniversary Celebration advertising campaign and showcased on Belk’s Facebook page.
