Belk Awards $75,000 to Charlotte‐Mecklenburg Schools

Rocking the Belk Bowl Participants Receive Funding for Technology Grants

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 6, 2012 –Three Charlotte‐Mecklenburg Schools received $25,000 technology grants thanks to Belk’s “Rocking the Belk Bowl Contest.” The Contest, which kicked off in October, offered Charlotte‐Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) the chance to win by creating educational and Belk Bowlthemed designs on school rocks or bulletin boards. In addition to the three winners, the remaining 20 participating schools will each receive a $1,000 technology grant.

“The Rocking the Belk Bowl Contest is a great way for students to demonstrate their passion for technology and sports and Belk is proud to support the advancement and education of CMS students in conjunction with our Belk Bowl event,” said Jon Pollack, Belk executive vice president, sales promotion, marketing and eCommerce.

The winning schools listed below will each receive a $25,000 technology grant as well as an allotment of tickets to the 2012 Belk Bowl. Tickets for students at Reedy Creek Elementary School and Quail Hollow Middle School were provided by local sponsors Chiquita® and Husqvarna®. These winners will also be featured on the Belk Bowl FanZone page, Belk’s Facebook page, The View (Belk’s internal publication) and during this year’s Belk Bowl FanFest and game.
